Getting to grips with new age discrimination rules
On October 1st 2006, the new Employment Equality (Age) Regulations came into force. These make discrimination against members of the workforce on the basis of age unlawful. Furthermore, jobseekers and workers who believe they have been discriminated against on such grounds will be able to seek redress through an employment tribunal. For employers, the implications of the new legislation are likely to be wide ranging. Fortunately, as corporate members of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, Mayday has access to expert advice on all aspects of age discrimination. As a result, Mayday can help ensure that employers do not fall foul of the new regulations.
